About “Hayy ibn Yaqdhan”
Ḥayy ibn Yaqẓān is an Arabic philosophical novel written by Ibn Tufail in the early 12th century in al-Andalus. It is also known as Philosophus Autodidactus in Latin and The Improvement of Human Reason: Exhibited in the Life of Hai Ebn Yokdhan in English. The work was named after an earlier Arabic philosophical romance of the same title, written by Avicenna during his imprisonment in the early 11th century, though the two stories are different. The novel presents an allegorical tale about a man raised in isolation who discovers knowledge through reason and observation. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
