About “He who whispers”
In 1946, John Dickson Carr's novel begins with the end of the war, allowing the Murder Club to reunite in London. Miles Hammond is invited by Dr Gideon Fell, but upon arrival, he finds only himself and a mysterious woman, Barbara Morrell, present. They listen to Professor Rigaud's account of Howard Brookes' death—stabbed with his own sword-stick while on top of a tower. The only suspect is Fay Seton, but the suspicion is based solely on rumors that she is a vampire, capable of floating to the tower's height.
