About “Heart of the Comet”

Heart of the Comet is a 1986 novel by Gregory Benford and David Brin about exiles from a world devastated by fear and political strife who set out as pioneers to seek a new destiny, traveling to the heart of a comet. The mission is led by three central figures: Card Osborn, its troubled leader; Saul Lintz, a biologist working to heal the stricken crew; and Virginia Herbert, a cybernetics technician loved by both men.
