About “Historia scholastica”
The Historia scholastica is a Biblical paraphrase written in Medieval Latin by Petrus Comestor. It was completed around 1173 and intended for the cathedral school of Notre Dame in Paris. The work is sometimes called the "Medieval Popular Bible" and provides an overview of sacred history. It draws on the Bible as well as other sources, including the writings of classical scholars and the Fathers of the Church.
