About “Hollywood Babylon”

Hollywood Babylon is a book by filmmaker Kenneth Anger that recounts scandals involving famous Hollywood figures from the 1900s to the 1950s. It was banned in the U.S. shortly after its 1965 publication and remained unavailable until it was reprinted in 1975. Upon its second release, The New York Times called it a book without redeeming merit. The Daily Beast described it as a work of fiction, suggesting most of its stories lack credibility. Film historian Kevin Brownlow criticized the book, noting Anger claimed to use "mental telepathy" for his research. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
