About “Hop-frog”
"Hop-Frog" is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe first published in 1849. The title character, a person with dwarfism taken from his homeland, serves as jester to a king fond of practical jokes. After the king strikes Hop-Frog's friend Trippetta, Hop-Frog takes revenge by dressing the king and his cabinet as orangutans for a masquerade, then murders them by setting their costumes on fire and escapes with Trippetta.
