Hoshin Engi is a Japanese manga series created by Ryu Fujisaki, based on the Chinese literary classic Investiture of the Gods, a shenmo novel. It was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from June 1996 to November 2000, and later compiled into 23 tankōbon volumes. The story draws from Chinese mythology and history, focusing on the fall of the Yin dynasty and the efforts to overthrow its last members. The manga was later licensed for English release in North America by Viz Media.
