About “How Green Was My Valley”

A 1939 novel by Richard Llewellyn set in a south Wales coal mining valley, following a family striving to improve their lives through hard work, education, and non-conformist faith. The main character is the youngest son, Huw Morgan, whose life's journey passes through the difficulties of the mining industry in the mid nineteenth century, in a location usually considered to be the village of Gilfach Goch in the Rhondda Valley.
