About “Hrafnsmál”
Hrafnsmál is a fragmentary skaldic poem attributed to the 9th-century Norwegian poet Þorbjörn Hornklofi. It features a dialogue between an unnamed valkyrie and a raven, focusing on the life and military achievements of Harald Fairhair. The poem is sometimes called Haraldskvæði because of its subject. It is primarily written in the Málaháttr meter, with some parts in Ljóðaháttr and Fornyrðislag. While the poem is often seen as a praise piece, its style is similar to the Eddic poems. Some scholars suggest it may have been written by the same author as Atlakviða. Portions of the poem were later adapted into a song for the game Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
