About “Idiot's Delight”
Idiot's Delight is a 1936 Pulitzer-Prize-winning play written by Robert E. Sherwood. Set in the Hotel Monte Gabriel in the Italian Alps, the story unfolds over 24 hours at the start of a world war. The guests, from Germany, France, the United States, and Britain, are trapped by the sudden outbreak of hostilities. The play was directed by Bretaigne Windust and featured Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne in leading roles. Sydney Greenstreet and Francis Compton also appeared in the cast.
