About “Inés of My Soul”

Inés, a seamstress from a poor family in Spain, lives a life of hard work with no reward or hope. In the sixteenth century, her husband leaves for the New World, and she uses this as a chance to escape her homeland. After a dangerous journey to Peru, she learns her husband has died. She begins a passionate relationship with Pedro de Valdivia, a war hero and field marshal under Francisco Pizarro. Valdivia aims to conquer Chile, a land seen as barren but desired for honor and glory. Inés and Valdivia help build the city of Santiago and fight against the indigenous people, including the chief Michimalonko and the Mapuche. Their war is brutal and changes them deeply, leading them toward different fates.
