About “In the presence of mine enemies”
Heinrich Gimpel is a respected officer in the Oberkommando Wehrmacht office in Berlin. His wife is a hausfrau who raises their three daughters to be loyal, unquestioning citizens of the Third Reich. However, Gimpel has a secret—he is Jewish and has been living under a false identity to protect himself and his family. Many Jews in Berlin are doing the same, maintaining the appearance of Aryan loyalty while hiding their true identities. They live in fear of discovery, hoping to keep their families safe. But as circumstances change, they must face the difficult choice between remaining in safety or seeking freedom.
