About “Instruction of Hardjedef”
The Instruction of Hardjedef, also known as the Teaching of Hordedef and Teaching of Djedefhor, is a piece of didactic literature from the Egyptian Old Kingdom. It is considered one of the earliest known Instructions, dating to the 5th Dynasty. According to Miriam Lichtheim, it predates other similar texts such as The Instructions of Kagemni and The Maxims of Ptahhotep. Only a few fragments of the text have survived. These include pieces found on New Kingdom ostraca and a Late Period wooden tablet. The text is incomplete, with only the beginning surviving. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
