About “Jacques the Fatalist”

Jacques the Fatalist and his Master is a novel by Denis Diderot, written between 1765 and 1780. It was first published in French in 1796, after the author's death. However, the work was known in Germany earlier, through a partial translation by Friedrich Schiller, published in 1785. A complete German translation by Mylius was released in 1792.
