About “Judo Boy”
Kurenai Sanshirō, known outside Japan as Judo Boy, is a Japanese anime television series created by Tatsuo Yoshida and his brother Ippei Kuri. It is loosely based on the manga Judo Boy by Yutaka Arai and Kuri, with illustrations by Yoshida. The series aired on Fuji TV from April 2, 1969, to September 24, 1969, and consisted of 26 episodes. Two manga adaptations followed. The first was written by Masato Tenma and illustrated by Kuri, published in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from July 28 to November 17, 1968. The second was a four-chapter series written by Yoshida and illustrated by Mamoru Uchiyama, published in Weekly Shōnen Jump from May 22 to July 10, 1969.
