About “Kalila and Demna”

Kalīla wa-Dimna is a collection of interconnected animal fables that mix moral lessons with political wisdom. It originates from the Indian Panchatantra, but it spread widely through the Middle East and other regions via translations and adaptations. According to traditional stories, the work was created by the philosopher Bidpai for the Indian king Dabshalim. It was later brought to Sasanian Iran by the physician Burzuya, who is said to have translated and preserved the text.
