About “Killdeer Mountain”

Sam Morrison, a reporter for the "Saint Louis Herald," travels to Dakota country to gather stories and joins a group of passengers on a steamboat journey up the Missouri River for the dedication of a new fort named after Charles Rawley. During the trip, he investigates conflicting accounts of Rawley's life and death, encountering a mysterious stranger who may be Rawley, Drew Hardesty, or someone else entirely, while questioning whether Rawley is a hero or a fraud.
