Fiona Cameron, an academic psychologist, is drawn back into criminal profiling when a fellow crime novelist is murdered using a method described in the victim's book. She collaborates with the Toledo, Spain police to identify a killer who targets authors by replicating scenes from their novels, using her expertise in computer programming to develop a non-sexual-based profiling system.
