About “Kiln people”

In a near-future America, people use new technology called imprinting to copy their personalities into animated clay bodies known as "dittos" or "golems," which last only one day. Albert Morris, a private investigator, works alone to solve the murder of a famous imprinting research scientist. The story explores themes of identity and technology through his investigation. The novel was published in 2002.
