About “Kojidan”
The text is a six-volume collection containing 462 setsuwa stories. Many of the stories focus on monks, the aristocracy, and the imperial palace. It was highly popular and served as a foundation for later collections, including the 1219 text Zoku Kojidan and Uji Shūi Monogatari. Its influence is evident in the development of subsequent literary works in the same genre. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
