About “Kokon Chomonjū”
Kokon Chomonjū is a Kamakura-period collection of setsuwa, compiled by Tachibana Narisue and completed in 1254. The work consists of twenty volumes organized into thirty chapters, with chapter 16 focusing on art and painting and chapter 17 on the game kemari. Of the 726 tales included, nearly two-thirds are set in the Heian period.
