About “Król Maciuś Pierwszy”
King Matt the First (Polish: Krol Maciuś Pierwszy) is a 1922 children's novel by Polish author, physician, and pedagogue Janusz Korczak. Alongside a young king's adventures, it describes social reforms targeting children, some of which Korczak enacted in his own orphanage, and functions as a thinly veiled allegory of contemporary and historical Polish events; it has been described as being as popular in Poland as Peter Pan is in the English-speaking world.
