About “Kurds'komu bratovi”
"Kurds'komu bratovi" is an Aesopian poem written by the Ukrainian poet Vasyl Symonenko in March 1963. It was circulated secretly through samizdat until 1965, when it was published posthumously in the German journal Suchasnist. The poem is considered one of Symonenko's greatest works and contributed to his recognition as a national hero and a key figure in Ukrainian literature. It was written during the First Iraqi-Kurdish War, a conflict in which the Soviet Union was involved. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
