About “Là-bas”
Là-Bas is a 1891 novel by French writer Joris-Karl Huysmans. It explores the theme of Satanism in modern France and caused controversy when it was first published. The story introduces the character Durtal, a version of the author himself, who appears in all of Huysmans' later works. Là-Bas is considered Huysmans' most famous novel after À rebours.
