About “L'immoraliste”

The Immoralist is a 1902 novel by André Gide. The story is told through the recollection of Michel, who relates his experiences to three friends. One friend uses Michel’s account to seek job assistance from a government official. Michel recounts his recovery from tuberculosis, his attraction to Arab boys and the caretaker’s son, and his changing views on life and society.
