About “Leaves of Grass”

Leaves of Grass is a poetry collection by American poet Walt Whitman. He self-published the first edition in 1855 and spent the rest of his life writing, revising, and expanding the work until his death in 1892. Depending on the definition of an edition, between six and nine separate versions were produced. Throughout his life, Whitman made continual changes to the collection, leading to significant differences between copies.
