About “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile”

Lyle, Lyle Crocodile is a children's book written by Bernard Waber and first published in 1965. It is the second book in the Lyle the Crocodile series. The story follows Lyle, a crocodile who lives in a Victorian brownstone with the Primms, a family in the city. Lyle and Mrs. Primm go shopping and meet their neighbor, Mr. Grumps, who dislikes Lyle because he scares his cat. Mr. Grumps has Lyle sent to the zoo. Later, Lyle is freed by his old partner, Mr. Valenti, and they return to the house on East 88th Street. There, they find Mr. Grumps' house on fire. Lyle saves Mr. Grumps, becomes a hero, and is allowed to stay with the Primms.
