About “Máj”
Máj is a romantic poem by Karel Hynek Mácha divided into four cantos. Upon its initial publication, it faced strong criticism. Over time, it has become recognized as one of the most significant works in Czech literature. In the Czech Republic, it is a required reading for students and is among the most frequently published original Czech books, with more than 250 editions.
