About “Madilog”
The Madilog by Tan Malaka, first published in 1943 and released as an official first edition in 1951, is the most significant work in modern Indonesian philosophy. The title is an acronym for Materialisme Dialektika Logika, representing a combination of Marxist dialectical materialism and Hegelian logic. Written in Batavia during the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies, the book was composed while Tan Malaka was hiding, working under the disguise of a tailor. It remains a foundational text in Indonesian philosophical thought. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
