The Amber Witch is a German novel written by Wilhelm Meinhold and published in 1838 under the title Maria Schweidler, die Bernsteinhexe. It was initially presented as a 17th-century chronicle, but Meinhold later revealed it was a literary hoax. He faced challenges in proving his authorship. In 1844, the novel was published in Britain under the title The Amber Witch in two English translations. One was by E. A.
