Tap Duvarney, a veteran of the War Between the States, settles on the Texas coast as a ranch partner to his friend Tom Kittery and becomes embroiled in a feud between Kittery and the neighboring Munson family. As he navigates the conflict, Duvarney grows suspicious of Kittery's woman and faces a personal dilemma between loyalty to his friend and the threat of violence, ultimately confronting the possibility of fighting either the Munsons or his closest ally.
