Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds is a 1841 work by Scottish journalist Charles Mackay. It was originally published in three volumes titled "National Delusions," "Peculiar Follies," and "Philosophical Delusions." A second edition came out in 1852, which reorganized the volumes into two and added engravings. The book collects historic anecdotes about human follies and is written in a journalistic and sensational style. Mackay was known for his storytelling ability.
