About “Molodai͡a︡ gvardii͡a︡”
The Young Guard is a 1946 Russian-language young adult historical novel by Soviet writer Alexander Fadeyev. It tells the story of the Young Guard, an anti-German resistance group active in Krasnodon, eastern Ukraine, from 1942 to 1943. Many members of the group were executed by the Germans. The novel features real historical figures, such as Oleg Koshevoy and Juliana Gromova, though their characters and dialogues were partly fictionalized. The book was one of the most popular children's works in the Soviet Union between 1918 and 1986, with over 26 million copies sold across 276 editions.
