About “Molvanîa”

Molvanîa is a book that parodies travel guides, presenting a fictional post-Soviet nation. The guide describes Molvanîa as the "birthplace of the whooping cough" and the "owner of Europe's oldest nuclear reactor." It was created by Australians Tom Gleisner, Santo Cilauro, and Rob Sitch. Alongside other Jetlag Travel volumes, such as Phaic Tăn and San Sombrèro, the book mocks the language of heritage tourism and the legacy of colonialism. The book drew criticism from Keith Vaz for potentially exploiting prejudices. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
