About “My life as a fake”

In Melbourne in the late 1940s, a young conservative Australian poet named Christopher Chubb fabricates the identity of a dead working-class poet named Bob McCorkle and submits the invented works to a literary magazine, leading to the magazine's prosecution for obscenity. At the trial, a man resembling the photograph of the fictional McCorkle appears, confronting Chubb and pursuing him from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur, where he meets a bitter end.
