About “My Life with the Eskimo”
Vilhjálmur Stefánsson traveled to the Arctic Circle in 1908 and spent two years studying an isolated group of Inuit on Victoria Island who used primitive tools and were believed by some to be descendants of Vikings. During his time with the group, he experienced extreme hardships, including being delayed by blizzards and consuming the tongue of a whale that had been dead for at least four years, while also learning to communicate with the Inuit and observing their daily life and beliefs.
