About “Nārāyaṇīyam”
The Narayaniyam is a medieval Sanskrit text that summarizes the Bhagavata Purana in poetic form. It was written by Melpathur Narayana Bhattathiri, a renowned Sanskrit poet from Kerala. Though it is believed to have been composed as early as 1585 CE, the earliest surviving manuscripts date to more than 250 years later. The Bhagavata Purana is a major Hindu scripture with about 18,000 verses, focusing on the worship of Krishna.
