About “Nad Niemnem”
Nad Niemnem is a Positivist novel written by Eliza Orzeszkowa in 1888 during the foreign Partitions of Poland. It was published in installments in Tygodnik Ilustrowany in 1887 and released as a book the following year. The novel aims to depict Polish society and its internal dynamics during the mid-19th century, particularly in the context of the Polish January Uprising against Russian rule.
