About “No Easy Day”
Mark Owen, a member of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group, also known as SEAL Team Six, wrote No Easy Day, a first-person account of his experiences during the planning and execution of the raid that led to the capture of Osama bin Laden. The book details his participation in several high-profile missions, including the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips and operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. Owen describes the training and preparation of the twenty-four-man team for the mission against bin Laden, as well as the events of the raid, from the helicopter crash to the confirmation of bin Laden's death. The book also covers the selection and training process for elite special operations forces and includes details of other previously unreported missions. Owen reflects on his upbringing in Alaska and the rigorous physical and mental challenges faced by SEALs. He honors the sacrifices of his fellow soldiers and provides insight into the life of a SEAL and the evolution of the unit after September 11.
