When the first bullet hit his chest, Dr. Marc Seidman was living in a quiet suburban home in New Jersey with his wife, Monica, and their baby daughter, Tara. After being shot, he wakes up in the hospital to learn that Monica is dead and Tara has disappeared from her crib. For two weeks, there is no information. A ransom demand then arrives, but a mistake during the money drop causes the ransom to vanish and the kidnappers to escape. The police lose hope, and after eighteen months without any new clues, Marc nearly gives up. Then a package arrives with a chilling note and proof that Tara is still alive.
