About “Notes on a Scandal”

Notes on a Scandal is a 2003 novel by Zoë Heller. When new teacher Sheba arrives, Barbara senses she will be different from her staff-room colleagues, and Sheba soon becomes involved in an illicit affair with a pupil. Barbara finds the relationship abhorrent but is the only adult Sheba can confide in, and remains present when the affair is discovered and Sheba's life falls apart.
