About “Ondine”
ONDINE is the story of Syracuse, a fisherman who catches a beautiful and mysterious woman in his nets. She appears to be dead, but she comes to life before him. Initially unsure if he is dreaming, Syracuse is convinced by his daughter, Annie, that the woman—named Ondine—may be a myth made real. As Syracuse and Ondine grow close and fall in love, their relationship deepens. However, the real world eventually disrupts their romance, ending the fairytale. The play was written by Jean Giraudoux.
