About “Operation Mincemeat”
Operation Mincemeat recounts the 1943 British intelligence operation in which a corpse was equipped with false documents suggesting an Allied invasion of Greece or Sardinia, intended to mislead Nazi Germany about the actual target of the invasion, Sicily. The plan was devised by Charles Cholmondeley of MI5 and the British naval intelligence officer Ewen Montagu, with approval from British intelligence officials including Ian Fleming, and was believed by Winston Churchill to have the potential to influence the Axis powers' decisions.
