About “Optice”

Opticks is a 1704 publication by Isaac Newton that explores the properties of light through experiments with prisms, lenses, and closely spaced glass sheets. The work examines refraction, reflection, diffraction, and the behavior of colors when mixed with spectral light or pigments. Divided into three books, it is Newton's second major scientific work and a key contribution to the study of optics during the Scientific Revolution. The treatise remains one of the three major works on optics from that period. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
