About “Palia de la Orăștie”
Palia de la Orăștie is the first known translation of the Pentateuch into Romanian. It was printed in 1582 in the town of Orăștie, which was a local center of reformation within the Principality of Transylvania. The translation was produced under the patronage of Stephen Báthory.
