Katie Ellison is a high school student who is not a liar but finds herself juggling two boyfriends, hiding her true feelings about the high school football team, and maintaining a carefully constructed image of control. When Tommy Sullivan returns to town, Katie fears he will expose her secrets, particularly what happened the night he was spray-painted on the junior high gymnasium wall, and she resorts to more lies to preserve her carefully managed summer.
