About “Patrologia Orientalis”
The Patrologia Orientalis is a collection of writings by eastern Church Fathers in several languages, including Syriac, Armenian, Arabic, Coptic, Ge'ez, Georgian, and Slavonic, with translations in Latin, English, Italian, or mostly French. It was created to complement 19th-century Latin and Greek patrologies. Originally started in 1897 as the Patrologia Syriaca, it was later replaced by the Patrologia Orientalis. The collection began with liturgical texts related to hagiography and has since included critical editions of the Bible, theological works, homilies, and letters.
