About “Phantom Lady”

A man is accused and convicted of murdering his wife. As his execution date nears, his friends and a sympathetic detective search for an alibi—a woman he was seen with at a Broadway show the night of the murder. No one who saw them together remembers her, and she remains unseen in a city of millions. He is sentenced to death and sits in the death house. His only hope is the group of friends searching for the "Phantom Lady." Each chapter of the novel details their efforts to find her, all of which fail. Each chapter also shows the days passing closer to his execution.
