About “Piya”
The Piya was a Chinese dictionary compiled by the Song Dynasty scholar Lu Dian. It was written as a supplement to the Erya, a classical Chinese dictionary, and was accompanied by Lu Dian's commentary called Erya Xinyi. The Piya's preface, written by Lu Dian's son Lu Zai, is dated 1125, but the dictionary itself was likely composed earlier, with estimates placing its creation during the Yuanfeng era.
