About “Priapeia”
The Priapeia is a collection of eighty anonymous Latin poems, each focusing on the phallic god Priapus. They are thought to have been written in the 1st or early 2nd century AD. Traditionally, scholars believed the poems were compiled by multiple authors on the same theme. However, a newer theory suggests that all eighty poems were written by a single author, who presented a narrative of Priapus's life, from youth to old age.
